چکیده

Hyponatremia is considered to be a frequent complication of many clinical conditions [1]. Euvolemic dilutional hyponatremia caused by water retention in normal sodium stores has been termed as a syndrome of inappropriate antidiuretic hormone (SIADH) [2]. SIADH has been developed in patients with a variety of disorders, including central nervous system disorders, malignancy with autonomous ADH release, drugs and other miscellaneous causes. Pulmonary disease such as pneumonia or lung cancer is frequently combined with SIADH, however, there was no report of SIADH in a patient after lung transplantation (LT). Herein, we describe a case of SIADH after LT, whose hyponatremia was successfully treated with tolvaptan. Case

Syndrome of inappropriate secretion of antidiuretic hormone (SIADH) refers to the excessive release of antidiuretic hormone (ADH) resulting in water retention, dilutional hyponatremia and urinary sodium waste, and some other clinical manifestations. Causes of SIADH include many disease conditions, some medications and nicotine. The present study reports a case of psychosis followed by lung canc...

The syndrome of inappropriate secretion of antidiuretic hormone: a case report and characterization of an antidiuretic hormone-like material isolated from an oat cell carcinoma of the lung.

A 72-year-old woman with the syndrome of inappropriate secretion of antidiuretic hormone of unknown cause during more than one year of observation is reported. Plasma vasopressin levels were excessively elevated, even during a water load test. Her serum electrolyte abnormalities and general state were ameliorated after fluid restriction. During treatment with demeclocycline the patient was able...

Putrid pulmonary abscess and empyema with inappropriate secretion of antidiuretic hormone.

The syndrome of inappropriate secretion of antidiuretic hormone has been associated with many pulmonary inflammatory diseases. The origin of the hormone in these cases is the neurohypophysis, although the afferent stimulus has not been adequately characterized. A previously unreported association of this syndrome with putrid pulmonary abscess and empyema is documented.

Is the paraneoplastic syndrome of inappropriate antidiuretic hormone secretion in lung cancer always attributable to the small cell variety?

The syndrome of inappropriate antidiuretic hormone (SIADH) secretion is a well recognised paraneoplastic phenomenon and the vast majority are associated with small cell lung carcinoma. Rarely however, the non-small cell variety can sometimes be responsible and this report describes such an occurrence. Uniquely in this case, after chemotherapy the paraneoplastic SIADH improved in parallel with a...
